How to Find If someone else is stealing your WiFi

The WiFi system are very common nowadays. Most of us use WiFi networks in our homes or workplace. But unlike other networks, an open WiFi network is very very risky, as anyone can connect and steal from an open WiFi connection easily.
Sadly, Many of us keeps our WiFi open. It may be for many other reasons like easy connectivity or else, but there are more chances that someone may steal your WiFi. It’s very risky as if the person stealing your wifi engages in any illegal activities or use it above your bandwidth, It could cause you many problems. So, To prevent them and be on the safe side, It’s always good to check if someone else is stealing your wifi, occasionally.

But How Do I check If some one is Using my Wifi ?

Good question ! But it ain’t that complex. It’s a very simple task. You can do it in 2 ways, which I will describe here.

#1 ) The Traditional way ;-

This is the simplest way to check if your neighbour is stealing your wifi. This way proceeds by checking the activities of your modem. The green light of your modem blinks whenever you use your WiFi and you must had notify it. To check if someone else is using your wifi, Turn on the WiFi, Switch of your computer and don’t use your wifi now. If no one else is using your WiFi the green light on the modem should not blink now, As you are not connecting to the internet. If someone is stealing your WiFi, then the light will blink, due to their activity and you can easily understand that they are using it.

#2 ) Use Wireless Network watcher;-

This is the easiest method. This is a simple software that checks if any other gadgets are using your WiFi. If it finds any, It will report you with their device name and MAC address that they are using. You can not only check, but also find those who are stealing your WiFi. It will also record the date on which ‘HE’ used your WiFi first time, IP address, MAC address, The Network adapter manufacturer company, No. of times HE had used your WiFi etc.

This is very useful, also allows you to check if HE is using for the first time or HE usually does it. You can also set the options to scan Network in the background, so it will scan whenever you use your PC and to make a beep sound when it finds any intruder. You can download this app for free from here :-

With Wireless network watcher you can find Who is stealing your Wi-Fi, How many times he  is stealing your Wi-Fi, and When he  is stealing your Wi-Fi !

NB : Prevention is better than cure ! So if you can, keep a password for your WiFi to make it secure, Unless it is used by many people !

  1. Howdy this is kind of of off topic but I was wanting to know if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually code with HTML. I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding know-how so I wanted to get advice from someone with experience. Any help would be enormously appreciated!
