how to Increase downloading speed of Utorrent / Bit-torrent

Torrents are one of the popular and hot topics of the web today.There are a lot of legal and pirated torrents online, and it’s hard to track down or stop the torrents from being spread. The complex system of the torrents are surely the main reason for this.

Torrents made a revolutionary change in the web and today almost everything are available as torrents.Its privacy and security features make the users opt them more and the users of torrents are increasing day by day.

There are a lot of factors that influence the speed of a torrent.

Here we are discussing them and sharing the method on how to improve the Downloading speed of your Utorrent or any other bit torrent client.

To download a torrent, you need a torrent client and Utorrent is by far the today’s most popular torrent client. So I’m using Utorrent in this tutorial . You can do the same process with your torrent client.

1) Choose a healthy torrent

The speed of torrent mainly depends upon the total number of seeds and peers available for it. So when you are downloading a torrent, Try selecting the ones with maximum seeds and peers. These values have great effect on the speed of your downloads and if your torrent has only less number of seeds, the speed will be also less

2)  Choose the correct BitTorrent client

There are a lot of Bit torrent clients available. When you are to download your torrent, make sure you are using the fastest and lightest bit torrent client.

From our experiences, we recommend our users to select UTorrent or Bitcomet clients !

3) Reduce Upload speed to “6 kbps “

Upload speed have direct affect the download speed in case of torrents. You can limit the download speed or upload speed in Utorrent anytime. Always set your Download speed in 0(unlimited) and set the upload speed to “6″ ( “11″ if you are downloading in high speed). This is because, the lower you sets your upload speed, the faster your download becomes. But if you set the upload speed to a value below 5 kbps, many torrent sites then automatically limits your download speed. So it’s better you keep an upload speed of 6, which is just above the limit of 5 kb/ps to get maximum speed boost.

4) Change the Bandwidth settings

To change this Go to Options -> Preference

Now navigate to Bandwidth Tab. Change the values marked in red. Change the Maximum upload speed to 6, check the box, Then change the Global maximum no. of connections to 2329, Max no. of connected peers to 70 and Number of upload slots to 14.

Now click on apply to save the changes

5) Forward the Ports

Changing the port have a great affect on your download speeds. You can change port number from default to any number above 10000.

To do this, Go to preferences-> Connection -> Change the Port Number. You may add any port number above 10000.

Now click on Apply
