What is the difference between HTML and XML?

HTML (Hyper text mark-up language) is the basic language used for web-designing  Basically, it provides a layout or structure in which documents can be created on the web. It is able to do this by providing structural semantics for all the parts of a document. Although there are many other languages that are used on the Internet, HTML is still the common and simplest language. It was created by Tim Bernesly created it in the 80’s and is the oldest language used in web designing.What is the difference between HTML and XML?

XML (Extensible mark-up language) is another language used in web-designing.  It Provides a foundation for creating documents and document systems. XML operates on two main levels: It provides syntax for document markup and also it provides syntax for declaring the structures of documents. Users who have worked with HTML before should be able to learn the basics of XML without too much difficulty. XML’s simplicity is its key selling point, perhaps even its strongest feature. Many sites today are powered by xml and all the blogspot blogs are powered by xml.

What is the difference between HTML and XML?
